During the 2005-2006 school year, Paul and Vicki Staso organized a virtual 3200-mile run across America after their daughter, Ashlin, suggested creating a project to get the kids in her class more fit. During the 9-month school year the 4th and 5th grade classes ran and walked across 15 states virtually. The 5th grade class of 41 children finished first on April 25, 2006 – accomplishing the trek in 230 days. Each child averaged 78 miles for the single class to succeed in the challenge. As a result, Paul Staso kept his promise to actually run across America solo during the summer of 2006. The kids’ virtual journey is online at www.seeusrun.com and Paul’s solo USA run is online at www.pacetrek.com/usa.
